Did you have a fantastic growing season, but wonder how best to store your crop throughout the winter? This weekend course will give you practical techniques for storing and processing vegetables and fruit to enjoy home-grown food all year round!
This comprehensive program (In Indre Fosen, Norway) is designed to equip participants with the knowledge to set up their gardens and the practical skills needed for less food reliance.

Course Objectives:
Storing vegetables in the cellar
Learn how to store different vegetables for a long shelf life.
Fermentation
Simple methods for making nutritious, probiotic food. Pickling - how to preserve fruit and vegetables.
Drying
Learn space-saving methods for preserving herbs, vegetables, fruit, and mushrooms.
Canning
Explore safe techniques for heat treatment and long-term storage. End of the growing season - how to prepare the kitchen garden for winter and plan for the next season.
Practical tasks:
We will ferment, pickle and dry together
Sauerkraut, kimchi or fermented carrots!
Learn to make your own pickles
Experiment with drying herbs and fruit.
Get simple storage strategies adapted to your home - with or without a basement.

Course Structure:
Whether you have a large crop or just a few vegetables, this course will provide valuable methods to reduce food waste and enjoy the taste of summer all winter long. It's the follow up of the perennial course in June. We have planned theory courses, group activities, and discussions inside and practical tasks outside.

Location:

The course participants meet at the farm Bed&Breakfast of Heggli Gård.
Arrival:
By car:
Enter the address Helsetveien 140, Stadsbygd in Google Maps/GPS, and you will find the course location! If you are coming from the Trondheim side of the fjord, you must factor in a ferry trip with the Flakk-Rørvik connection.

Language:
The course language will be Norwegian but both Teachers speak Norwegian as well as English. Individual questions can always be answered in your preferred language.

If the minimum requirement of 6 participants isn't met, we will refund the deposit :)
